'Our students are up against very stiff competition when applying for medicine and so we are constantly looking for something to give them an edge. There are many organisations offering 'off the peg' courses for potential doctors but Future Doctors is different because they will offer to tailor their input to your needs, they interact with students rather than lecturing them and actively keep in touch after the event. In other words, like a good doctor, they listen.'

Everyone!
This is THE BEST course you can go to, seriously.
Over the 4 days i felt like i learnt more than i ever have done, as it was real experience as a medical student; you know if its definitely the right career for you or not.
Also, with the experience of specialities, you really gain insight into each part of medicine, and consequently gain a liking for a particular section; for me, i really became interested in respiratory medicine, for no particular reason, except it just 'felt' right.
If you are unsure about anything, go to this course.
If you know you definitely want to do this, then Make SURE you go to this course!! It gives you the greatest preparation, and I feel 100 times more confident after it.
Regardless to say, it's something you can't miss. And the organisers and volunteers are all amazing.
GO! Any questions if you want to ask a peer, feel free to email me using the facebook group. x

The Clinical Skills Courses were brilliant - I loved the laparoscopic simulation station, it was a bit too addictive!

To all doctors involved - Thank you so much for a fantastic Commitment to Medicine weekend.

It is such a worthwhile course - cannot recommend it more highly for anyone wanting to get into medical school or even just thinking about doing medicine.
It really helps with all aspects including applying and even gaining a particular interest for a certain area or speciality - I loved the plastic surgery lecture!

Well worth doing, so a huge thanks to all organisers. Best of luck to all 'future doctors' applying this year.

This course is fantastic for anybody looking to do medicine. The sections about application to University, personal statements and interviews are very useful but what I enjoyed the most were the lectures and practical activities to do with all the different aspects of medicine. Without doing your placement at a hospital, you can’t have much of an idea of what medicine involves but this course gives you some skills and gets your brain working in the right way.
Whether you’re sure about medicine or not, this course will heighten your interest in it and the doctors are incredible, full of advice and willing to answer all of your questions.
I fully recommend going to both weekends and asking lots of questions, it is a lot of fun and very informative.
